05 wk tranny issue

So my wife and I were cruising about 65 mph down the interstate when I felt the tranny pop out of gear and cel came on. Pulled over put jeep in park and back into drive and it starts working like nothing happened. Anybody ever had this happen or know what caused it? I'll pull the code tomorrow and do some research just wondering if anybody on the board could point me in the right direction.

Did the "Service 4 wheel drive" indicator come on too? What engine/tranny combo do ya have?

it should be the 5-45rfe

Could be a NAG if it's a 3.7 V6. They tend to be bulletproof aside from the leaking guide bushings.

2005 is when they were first used in our stuff. Even had a recall to repair the HVAC drain dumping water into the tranny via the dipstick tube seal. Apparently transmissions shouldn't be water cooled...

ok so I drove the wk to work this morning so if something happened with the tranny my wife would make it to work safe. the thing drove just fine when I was on my way home the check engine light shut itself off and my code reader wont pull any codes. any suggestions?

your code reader most likely only pulls current codes. scanners can pull history codes, and it's most likely stored in transmission history.
the reason the light went out was it has gone 3 ignition cycles without detecting the issue again.
