I have an 08 Sonata v6 that I love. The car came from my sister in law up north so there is some rust under the car but not as much as you might expect. Mostly just factory paint flaking off the sway bar, control arms, etc.
About 6 months ago the car was shaking bad and getting worse fast. I replaced the front calipers and rotors with detroit axle drilled and slotted rotors for $95 a pair. I reused the pads.
That fixed the shaking issue completely from what I remember.
About 3 months ago I started noticing a slight vibration again when braking but only when I first start applying the brake and this time the steering wheel didn't shake. I assumed it was the rear rotors and replaced them with drilled, slotted rotors. I replaced the pads too. That made no difference in my vibration issue.
The car still vibrates in the pedal and floor when I start applying the brake and it is slowly getting worse. It is only noticable when starting to brake at 45 mph+. If I apply the brakes hard the vibration goes away.
The steering is tight and the tire wear is even.
A year ago a tire shop replaced the front tires and told me they coukd not get one wheel completely balanced because it is bent. There is a very slight vibration in the steering wheel at 72 mph and faster but that's the only effect I can feel from the bent wheel. Could that be my issue?
Does anyone have other ideas? I am close to replacing the front rotors again but hate to just throw parts at the car.
In summary: The car shakes when braking light at high speeds. The shaking goes away if I apply the brake harder as if I was about to miss a turn. The steering does not shake much if at all. I mostly feel the shake in the floor board and brake pedal.
