Alright this is a classic customer comes in with 02 chevy 1500 8inch? superlift, double blocks, 5inch body lift, says 4 wheel drive is f-d up, and has some noises, oh where to start. go drive it put it in 4 whell drive, everything is in a bind so i say front doesn't match rear gears soemone regeared the rear but not front. Pull diff cover 4.56's in the rear 3.73's front.

set up front gears to match he is waiting on it as i am finishing, go for a test drive pass trail he says lets test it, i say your driving.

the CV angle on the lift is so extrem that to pull the diff i did not ven have to pull the tire or fight they actually pulled away from the diff when unbolted.

so big mud hole carrier breaks in half locks up rear, breaks ujoint. To get it out I half to take my bone stock 4runner w/ bald ass tires, winch it out with my reciever winch, put c-clips back in that fell out due to centerpin falling out with only half the carrier left, then i used electric tape to hold the pin to the carrier and hold clips in, i had to pull him most of the way out with a strap, and then he drove back to the shop in 2 wheel drive on the road only about 3 miles w/ center pin taped sketchy.

long story short i need a 30 spline 8.6 loaded cariier if anyone has one.

And let this be another lesson that 1/2 tons and 38's are for mall crawlin and web wheelin.

CLASSIC !

G80 Timex locker?

even if not, 10 bolts are crap, replaced many in 'burbs after every ice storm.

Im not sure if these carriers are interchangeable if anyone knows that would help, if the carrier is 30 spline i would like to try it.

the part# for the 8.5- 8.6 carrier is different, however i see lockers that say thet will fit both, both have 8.5 ring gear.

holy cow.... lol....

That must be the awesomeness of the Z71 that Ricky is always having diarrhea of the mouth about.. :flipoff2:

I see it everyday at my job. Because its a 'Z71' the rednecks think its as trick as blonde lesbos.
calling out Ricky are ya:lol:

That's funny! Electrical tape is stronger than a GM 10 bolt!

Why oh why do people build show rigs and take them on the trail? Don't people know that the ugly ones get it done?

Maybe because they realized that a set of shiny wheels and a lift kit does NOT make it a "show vehicle" in ANY sense of the word.

I can appreciate the effort that goes into a real show vehicle, even though it's not my thing..

Well in a ten bolt when the axle breaks the tire rolls off, you can try "the old log trick" but if the person who sugests it leaves shortly after the suggestion you know its a terrible idea.

The "old electric tape trick" is much better.

When i had 35's on a ten bolt it was 10 years ago, i did not have NC 4x4 or pirate to tell me i was an idiot, i had to learn for myself.
