10 bolt.

You're signature says it all. Under the weight of a full size truck with modest tires, they break.

i have a s-10 blazer with 4.3 36tsl's i have 10 bolt in front with a limited slip and i drive pertty hard but i have never hurt it but i have a 12 bolt in the rear that has a spool and im on the 4 rear diff:rolleyes:

Lack of aftermarket support and an 1/2 ton drivetrain. If you want a 1/2 drive train why not just get a D44 for the aftermarket support. It's not like they are rare. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a couple for sale.

i got manual hubs front diff guard gears locker. its not like its hard to find aftermarket stuff for em. ive never busted a 10 bolt before( one axle shaft was bent when i got truck lasted 20k before it broke). i tow with it mud and rock crawl. has anyone busted one and thats y they dont like em or is it just you heard they r week so u dont use them.

Stock carrier is incredibly weak if you are running the stock G80 gov bomb locker, replace that with a decent locker and it will fix that. After that you still have c-clip weak axles that tend to snap and roll past your... The list goes on. For a mild wheeler they are really not that bad as long as you don't go above 33s, 35s are about the biggest I would run on a 10 bolt street queen.

G-80 carrier is the only part I have personally dealt with breaking on a 10 bolt.

Been around several where people broke them. You don't hear as much of them being broken because people don't use them much. Plus on a trail other people are less likely to carry spares. I can't tell you how many times I've sold my spare stub shafts, and hubs to people who needed them on a trail.

Just less likely so carry everything you might need.

I broke several rear and one front on my burb. I was running 35's and 33's. Some times it was when the tire or tires returned to earth. Other times it was while tires where airborne. The gov loc has two govenors. One senses difference in axle speed and tightens clutches, the other disconnects clutches above a certain speed(maybe 35 mph).If the tires are spinning really fast (in the air) ,as the tires slow down the locker suddenly locks up and the large tires are to much momentum for the axle.

Lol. Gotta try that.

i havent had any problems out of a 10bolt u just have to take the gov bombs out then they a ok axle in the front if u trail ride or mud

I was told the ring and pinion of a 10bolt is stronger than a d44. I think crusty here on the board runs a locked 10bolt rear on 36s on his sas S10. Saw him own rocky mountain loop and def made me realize how strong they actually are.
