bought some basic chevy 8 lug steel wheels. was intending to put 315/75/R16"s on them. Had no idea in the world that the rims would only be 6.5" wide. WTF

do I need to backup and punt (get new rims) or just mount them? I know some shops wont do it, but really will I only suffer crowned centers? Prob wont see 5,000 miles on these before they dryrot. This will be street tires for the offrig rig

A) runem
B) new rims

what say ye

Theyll be ok. My 03 Duramax had 315's (12.4" equuvalent) on 6.5" wide stock rims when I got it. It rode and drove fine, just not as precise as it should have been.

I'm sad that nobody makes a wider, stock appearing rim. The stock 2500HD aluminum rims look awesome to me, but they're too damn narrow.

I know you were talking about steel wheels though. Hell, send it!

whatya mean there dood - 'send it?!'

Might as well do it.

You should look up "send it" on YouTube. It'll make more sense.

I've seen a mud race rig with 39.5x18 Boggers on 8" wide wheels.

I've also ran 12.5" wide tires on a 7" rim. They look a little donut-shaped, but whatever. Run it!

I have 6.5" wide Chevy Astro rims with 33/12.5/15 Super Swampers on a Jeep WJ. Love how it works offroad, no problems on road either. For Bias Ply narrow rims make the tire slightly bigger.
