I doubt that it will work, but what's the smallest wheel width i can run with 12.5" wide tires?

I assume you are talking about some 12.5x33's
they will fit on a 8 in rim no problem. you will have less of a chance of poping a bead when aired down

Thanks for the quick reply! Is there any downside to running them that much larger than the wheel though?

Id say a 8" is right for a 12.50...

Ive seen 15.5 on 8" wheels, a bitch to change and look a lil balloon like but no performance problems

I ran 33x12.50's on 15x8's for quite awhile...

I still run the 15x8's...and now they have 36x13.50's on them, still with no issues...

33x12.5 on 8" is prefect. I ran these tires on stock 7" rims, no problem, just don't overinflate or the center tread will wear out quickly on the street.

It will also keep mud and stuff out of the beads. You might need to run lower pressure to make sure you get the contact patch right.

I have seen 44 boggers on stock 8 lug rims...like 6-7" wide

no problems, just balloon out some

8" vs 10"

I've got 33x12.5 MT,s on 10" wheels, and wish I had bought 8" wheels. The sidewall is so straight you get more rock rash on the rim of the wheel. I even got wood from roots wedged between the tire and wheel.

i ran 39.5 x 15.50 tsl's on hummer wheels ( 8 3/4 wide) and loved them. double locked, so i wouldent lose a bead any way, but a 2 psi, i hade a doughnut shape that could still conform completly around the rocks
