It’s been a minute since I said or seen anything on the subject so here goes it for me. I have put it in the back burner for way to long and had myself set on a Hobart 140 but recently seen the new Rouge 140 from ESAB . I would love a Miller 211 or Old 200 but can’t justify the cost right now. Mostly small fabrication and some metal art stuff right now. I did pass on a Vulcan with lots of extras( 2 bottles of gas too) . That said budget is tops at $1k but rather keep it under $750 . Thoughts?Ideas? Experience?

I am sure I will get hammered…

But the dual voltage multi process Chinese inverter machines are fantastic. I sold my Miller 140 and bought a 200A Hynade and it is very nice. Read some reviews and try one.

Mine hasn’t missed a beat and I have their Plasma Torch as well.

I love my Hobart 140, but I bought it before all the other overseas machines came on the scene so I don't know how it stacks up against those. Saying that I built my entire truck with it, probably significantly shortened my life with the flux core smoke, but I love the welder.

I have a Vulcan 220 from HF and would 100% recommend this to anyone. I liquidated a ESAB fabricator 140 to get it. It's a lot easier to turn the welder down a little than it is to realize you need some more power when she's giving it all she has. Get the warranty!

I have the primeweld 225x tig, love it.

Here is the mig.

I’ve got 110 and 220 Lincoln machines. It’s easier to turn down the 220 to weld light stuff if needed. So much so I loaned out my 110 about 5 years ago and never missed it.

Both my welders are 20ish years old. If I ever get another one I’ll dump cash into a dual voltage kick ass miller that will run in 220 all the time. If I need to take it somewhere I’d just take the box and run flux core.

What about truck mounted welder generators? Talk to me like I know nothing about welding but have significant need for a mobile welder.

I know it’s easier to turn down a higher voltage machine than turn a low voltage up, I don’t have a 220 plugin in the garage. Also I don’t plan on using flux core. Found another rabbit hole at yeswelder.com!🙄
