After a tank of bad fuel that locked up the injection pump on the tool truck(5.9 24v) it also took out my trusty 12v. I filled both up at the same time. It locked the pump up and the pump spun on the shaft shearing off the key way...

We had to remove the front cover and heat the gear only after I spilt the shaft with a puller so we had to cut the end off the end of the pump shaft. It was a b#@$^ but it runs with a new pump. Now i have to just put the rady back in. All this from a tank of bad fuel, it gummed up the pump and looked like dried pancake syrup.....

Small mom and pop shop. The tank has been cleaned and drained so no need to kill a mans business... loacally in High Point the day we left for harlan for the ECORS race.

Not many they only had 400 gallons delivered and I got 140 of them...... they helped by refunding my fuel price so I'm ok still some out of pocket.

oh, well i guess i wasn't clear.. not wanting to bash a business, i am more curious how diesel fuel can be THAT bad, or how long it has to sit around to get that way? I know some people have large fuel tanks around their home that sit forever, but never would have guessed getting that kind of stuff from a store.

What awspence said...

More importantly though, where did this said "hair" come from? You're in the same boat I am, y'a'in't got nun tuh pull out! :flipoff2:

Guy at the pump place said it looked like biodiesel that was not properly done. In the Char. area he said they some issues with smaller trucking companies getting from everyone that would sell it cheap and not properly refined.

The 6 trips from High Point to Rides of Conover(were i had it towed) has been like pulling the short curlys!!!!lol

Probably had milk in it... turned to butter when it ran through the pump.

I understand not wanting to "Kill the messenger," per se, but I'd be tempted to follow this one up the chain. You're out a lot of money there that could have easily been avoided if somebody had been doing there job. I'm glad you got it straight, though.

This new ULSD is shit, plain and simple.
We are seeing fuel separating in above ground tanks in as little as 6 months.
We have invested over 100k in fuel polishing equipment just to protect our customers...dont be amazed....see it all too often.

That said, a nice filter set up would have prevented this....it may have gummed up the filter and shut down on a lack of fuel, but you wouldnt be rebuilding IPs
