I have a 1310 driveshaft with a CV joint on one side. By just eyeballing the driveshaft it looks like a regular 1310 u-joint is used in the CV section of the driveshaft too. Can somebody confirm that I'm on target and that there isn't a special size for the CV u-joints compared to the pinion side of the driveshaft?

I've always understood they were the standard 1310 size.

I don't know about others but my 76 cj5 has the same setup and they're all 1310's. (spicer 0153x, napa 210-0153 but get the spicer for 2 reasons, 1 it's better, 2 the regular grease fittings wont fit, you need the ones that look like an inverted cone, to work with a needle adapter)

I've replaced 3 u-joints so far. I'm not the fastest but I can do it just fine.

From breakage? Sounds like you're due for an upgrade. :flipoff2:

One was a 1310 from breakage. The clip came out of place and the cap worked it's way out of the yoke. The second was actually a friend's and it was a toyota joint. In fairness, I was one of 4 guys that worked on it. The last was because I couldn't get the darn drive shaft removed and I was going to swap it from the CV down.
In the end we got it removed properly. Still, this upgrade idea sounds like a good one. :)

Ohhh, it sounded like they were all on your buggy... :p

an easy way to find out ujoint size is partsamerica dot com. If you know the donating vehicles anyways, look up the parts and cross reference to the known part.
