14 bolt axle

Absolutely. My biggest concern would be with bending the housing, but you can build a proper truss for cheap with some tube that'll be better than any of the commercially available ones, and you won't warp the housing trying to weld it on.

Or just buy one, run it as is, and swap your good parts to a new housing should the need ever arise.

ok i have a chance to get a old gmc and it has the 14 bolt and i think the sm465 would you happen to know what the front is

If it's 1 ton then should be a Dana 60, if not then either a Dana 44 or GM 10 bolt depending on the year.

so what do you get for the front for 44s
D30 with titanium hardened shafts and super super alloy joints with angle iron control arms!!! (sorry but couldn't help myself)!

A 14 bolt can and will break with the right power and tire combination. I prefer to use the newer style (88+) rears. Thicker tubes and more webbing.

A front axle to handle 44s? 05+ Ford Super 60 with RCVs or steering 14 bolt.

4.0 aw4 dana 300 theres not a lot of power going to it.
and john you forgot your control arms

ok here is the thing i have no money so how would i go about geting a ford one i have the tires alredy . so tell me this is the 14 bolt and 10 better then the dana 44 set up i got on it now and its doing just fine

ok do you have some 37 or 39s because thats what i got and i dont know what els to do. ppl keep saying down size but what they dont understand is this is what i got and you use what you got.

I have a 60 front and 14b rear. Ran 39's and then 44's.

Didn't break the front stock 60 until I went to 42's.

I have beat the snot out of the rear with stock shafts and a spool.

I have a truss and 4 link now but started with leafs.

I have a stroked 4.0, ax-15, and d300.

I broke the 300 output shaft with 39's. It's by far the weak link before the axles.

Then I broke a 60 outer that took out hub and spindle as well.

Now I have hd outputs and 4:1s, and chromo 35spline shafts in the front.

If you are running 4.0/aw4/d300, the 300 will break first.

that's right...do what you gotta do, when you gotta do it, how you gotta do it, with whatever you got to do it until you can change/upgrade while in the meantime making what you got work!!

Big motor and stickies... but if you don't drive like a bouncer, won't be a problem.

yea i think i will be ok with the 14 bolt and 10 i am going to play with the dana 44s in the yard next week and go from there but i am still geting the truck its only 200 and a little yard work you cant pass that up the 14 bolt alone is worth at least 400

If it's a 10 bolt front, then don't waste your time or money upgrading it with better shafts.

Wheel it lightly and save your cash for a 60 front.

I'm guessing The price of good shafts for 10bolt / 44, ie: Ecgs or RCV are the same or more than the price of a 60.

10 bolt fronts dont hold up to 33's, much less 44's.
