So I did my disc brake brake conversion and have run into a problem and was wondering if anyone else has seen this? When I did my initial torque of the main hub bearing with the caliper off it was fine but when I put the calipers on andtried it, the spline nut is too far back. the rotor bottoms out on the brake pad, and now there isnt enough threads left on the hub. any ideas??

I don't fully understand waht you are saying, but it sounds like you are saying the caliper and pad is holding the rotor out. Is that right?

What you should do

1. mount the caliper bracket (assuming bolt on)
2. install the rotor and hub assembly
3. install caliper with pads into bracket.

Once you have the rotor and hub assembly installed and the spindle nut properly installed if you cannot install the caliper then there may be a problem with your bracket.

Is it one of my kits? If not what do you have?

Yes, it seems the bracket is holding the pad and rotor too far out. I do not know who's bracket it is. I got it in a trade. I did ask Kert at diy4 and his bracket will not fit a van width axle from what I saw, but he doesn't know why according to an email I sent him. It bolted up fine and appears correct. I will post up some pics to help explain.

Take a look at these:

could it be that the left and right brackets are swapped and the rotor should be on the back side of the hub? Does that make sense? I hope this helps.
