I purchased 5.38 thick cut gears + Yukon gear install for a 73-87 14 bolt 10.5 and never got around to installing them. I've since switched axles to a 93 new casting 10.5. Knowing there were differences in parts, I called around asking about each particular part I'd have to replace to make the 73-87 install kit work. My delima now is, no parts store in town has all the necessary parts under one roof. I know I'll need inner bearing #hm903249 and race #hm903210. Also according to tech guy at Randy's r&p, my 73-87 crush sleeve may or may not work and kit doesn't supply enough shim to compensate.
So... Spend all day tracking down correct parts or play it safe and just order another install kit from ECGS and wait. I was hoping to get gears done this weekend if possible and I'd like to know I'm getting the right stuff before the rig is deemed immobile as I'm performing this gear install at a Mon-Sat business location about 40 minutes from my house. Any suggestions or anything else I may be missing?
