Pulled my diff cover today to put a new cover on. Last trip I had an issue with the jeep locking up in reverse. I thought it was odd there were no noises out of the norm. It would only happen in spurts. Tonight I pulled my cover to install my new solid cover and bam!; out falls a cross shaft pin. Lucky me there was no damage to any gear teeth or bearings. The only damage other than the cross pin was a score 1/2'' wide about 1/8'' deep around the carrier where it splits. The pin was catching in the holes around the carrier and locking it up. I am really dissapointed with the mini spool. I am wondering has anyone else experinced this kind of failure?:poop:

I did alot of research before putting 14 bolt mini spools up on the site and selling them. Since the full spools have been great sellers, I did not want to offer people cheaper just to have it blow up and they be mad at (me) it. Its hard to break a 40lb spool so its a safe bet.
But This is the first mini spool failure I have heard of in a 14 Bolt. However from what you describe the spool did not fail but the crosspin did and Im guessing it is a 25-30 year old crosspin. She was probably just tired.

I have 14 bolt crosspins and full spools in stock if you need them.

Just out of curosity whos mini spool is it, how long was it ran?

Brand new mini. Had 3 rides on it. It is like the pins are pressed in on the mini spool insted of one machiened piece. One of the pins just fell out, did not actually break. I will fix that from happing again with around 220 amps.

Check out the Ouverson mini spool for the 14 bolt, it's all one piece and a true work of art. His stuff is right.
