14 Bolt pinion guard leaking

After topping off my new-to-me 14 bolt, I noticed fluid leaking (after some weeks) at the bottom of the diff, more specifically at the pinion guard. When installed, I didn't break the seal of the pinion to the diff housing when I removed the bolts. Can the fluid leak from the bolt holes? I did NOT put any sealant on the guard....didn't think I needed to. Doesn't look like there is fluid at the bolts on the front of the pinion guard so I'm guessing the washers are somewhat holding fluid in, if the holes do allow fluid transfer.
 
If I remember correctly those are blind holes but it's been a hot minute since I had a 14b apart.
