BUT I CAN SEE!!!

went today and had lasik surgery done, man what a freakin difference! im 20/20 in my right eye, and i was 20/200 in my left eye, and for both eyes to be seeing 20/20 is just unbelievable.

Congrats! I'll get around to doing it someday but now I own a jeep so someday might not come in my lifetime:rolleyes:

its really not that bad, i applied for a care credit card at the doctors office, i have 18 months to pay it off with no interest, so its not 1500 out of pocket right now, else id be waiting a while too.

does health insurance not pay for it?

or was that a deductable?

Rufus, it's considered elective surgery, so insurance does not pay.

Mac, I don't know the age, but at your age, you need to be sure your eyes are not changing yet. Mine kept changing into my mid 20's.

I had mine done this past october. But, I had PRK, not lasik. SO far, 20/15 in both eyes.
The only pain i had was feeling like i had dirt or something in my eye for about 4 days, but the eye drops made it a non-issue. And, i was really sensitive to bright lights, still am to a degree.

In my line of work, not having to rely on glasses really can be a lifesaver. I'd have paid for it out-of-pocket if the government hadn't picked up the tab.

Considering what we spend on our rigs, 1500 is a small price for an upgrade to ourselves

that's silly, considering they cover glasses/contacts and other forms of corrective eye surgery.

are the any plans or actions in place to change that?

That varies by compnay/insurance policy.
My wife's was covered 100% 2 years ago...

BTW another success story

i dont have vision insurance, so this was (will be) all out of pocket. the numb the eye before actually doing anything, so there wasnt any pain or anything, just a little discomfort as they put pressure on the eye with the instruments.

here is a video of the procedure on break.

Had mine done 8 years ago. BEST money I ever forked out! Painless, took less than 20 minutes, and I could see immediatly. Still have 20/20 vision!
