Just picked up my new project. I have always wanted a Willys so I am really excited.

Plans are-
ALLOT of body work
Paint Military Desert Camo Tan
Jeep 4.0
Np435-205 (TBD)
Dana 44s front and rear
35in MTRs or Swampers
Welded rear, Aussie front
6pt cage
bumpers, sliders

Hopefully going to keep the weight pretty low despite the heavy tires and axles.

Don't expect a ton of updates, I have knee surgery next week so prolly wont get much done for a few weeks. But if anybody in Raleigh knows where I can get metal, tube, and tube bent that would be helpful. Sorry pictures are really small, couldn't figure it out.

You might have a time getting that 4.0 under the short hood, and if you are wanting to keep it lite, the 4.0, np435, 205 arent the best choices... I'd look to a 4.3 or similar... or atleast a d300/d20 over the 205...

x2 on the 4.0L. You will have either have to cut some of the firewall out to make it fit, or cut out the front crossmember and push everything forward and stretch the fenders. I'm not trying to crap on your plan, anything can be done, I'm just telling you from experience that the engine compartments on these things are small. I have a vortec 4.3 in mine and it fits fairly snugly.

Did that come out of AL? Down near Birmingham? If so I stopped and looked at it on Weds or Thurs. My wheels were turning when I saw it. But dragging it home would have put me in the doghouse.

I'll second the 4.3 v6 vote I'm running a TBI 4.3 in my 48' willy. Nice fit & plenty of power.

looks good man... i just found out that the gpw is locked up woohoo
