found a 63 ford and going to get it just not sure if he is high on asking price.
short bed fleet side 292 three on the tree, has some surface rust, but no rot. cracked windshield. doesn't run right now. has a clear title for it.

what is it worth in its current state and what would be a ball park for it if it runs.

It boils down to condition & How bad you want it. It's collectible , but not rare. You can probably put more $$ into it, than will re-sale for; most projects Are that way. Rough guess/ no pics, $1000.

Just putting it in "parts" spectrum for comparison, you could sell the complete chrome package for at least $400 on ebay if the economy picks back up. Right now you can't sell your soul and nobody selling anything.
Tailgate $100-150
Door sill chrome pieces - $80+
Those back bumpers are starting to get demanding. $200-250.
$200-250 for rear end. (These are the narrow 9" that phased out in 1972). Yours is likely 4.10 or 4.56 which would mean $300-350
$300+ for the bed
$75-100 for untouched instrument panel / cluster
$200-250 complete grill
$200 doors

I'd say it's worth $1500-$1800 not running. $2200-$2400 if you get it running good.

Do yourself a favor and just buy a brand new windshield if you do buy it. They make a world of difference to the driving pleasure.
I restored (16) in-cab gas tanks at the same time so I have that process down to an art if you need any info.
This is a straight axle. They sell disk brake kits now that bolt on for $500. And dual cylinder type power steering kits that bolt on for $600.
These trucks are also very easy to convert to 4x4 with a divorced case. I did one and I've seen a couple others.

The good part about needing any parts is that LMC and Dennis Carpenter now replicates about every piece for these so they are available. Bad part is they are only worth the depreciated price of D-C and LMC. I was making $400 for the rear bumper brackets until D-C decided it was worth re-firing up the tooling like 7-8 years ago and now they sell for $299 all day brand new. Used rustys dropped to around $100

It's a good bit rougher than I imagined, & you can see how the parts cost can quickly add up.
Also, on the 9", it's either 28 or 31 spline [better than nothing], & base on my experience, usually a 3.50 ratio.
You ready for a Long Winter, & an empty check book? Good Luck!

you asss!!!!!!! I've been wanting to find another 63 for a while now. It's even got the same bed mine had.Put some 10fiddys on wagon wheels and roll 80s style.

This one kinda fell into my lap. I've gotta get it home and figure out what its gonna need to run and drive. Then this summer throw in a modern drivetrain and have a ratrod till I can fix it up nice and do it right

In 63 it was 28 spline. You'd be extremely lucky to score a 3.50. I've yet to see one in a '63 but Ford threw anything and everything in there.

I'll bet my balls it's 4.10 being auto 8 cyl.
