So I've been enjoying my 1300 for a few years now. I've upgraded a few things like the addition of a NV4500. One of the best things that was done.

I've ran 36" and 37" Military tires with great results but I was never really fully satisfied with the look or performance of them with my requirements.

So I came across a new set of 11.00R16 Michelin XL tires. I was looking for the 9.00R16 with no luck so I figured I would give the 11.00s a shot. They measure 38.75 tall, 10" wide and have a load capacity of 4520lbs. The bead area and sidewall are very thick.

I mounted them on stock 16x7 Ford 8 lug wheels that have a 4 1/4 backspacing. I then bolted them on the truck and took them for a ride.

Even though I did not balance them they ride excessively smooth and handle better than any tire so far. The rear fits with a simple adjustment to the lower fender brace to push the opening out just a bit. The fronts fit but my fenders were both mangled when I got the truck so one side hit where the other did not. I ended up trimming about an 1 1/2" from the forward portion of the wheel opening. Things are good now.
This truck is my 100% daily driver and I've probably put 30-35,000 miles on it in 2 years. It is not an off road truck but it will occasionally be asked to. With the style of wheels I run the tires do not hit anything even the front springs or drag link.

Thought I would share. Feel free to ask any questions.

That is a '49 Mercury full blown custom being built by a club brother. It is 100% period perfect. It looks as if it was built back in 1951.
Those unicorns are 'merican...

Thanks. Always something new going on.

Looks like a ton of great metal work.
Every panel, one way or another. He is an amazing metal finisher.

That's Way cool! Didn't realize how much they looked like the old Dodge; remember the one Timmy's father Paul, drove on the old Lassie shows?
What engine you running?
Thanks Rodney. I rebuilt and installed a 1972 Cadillac 500. With the NV4500, I now get 15MPGs. Much better than my old Dodge V-10.

I had to check this thread again to look at the pics...saw this one's almost twin today in Sanford. Dark blue all over, except for white cab top, and no camper shell. It was coming towards me...not much more detail than that.

I've had both the XLs and the XZLs in the 11.00R-16 flavor. Maybe it's just my truck eating tires, but I didn't much care for the XLs. Once they started to wear funny they were extremely loud and the wide tread blocks didn't help either...they just look soooo awesome! I got the XLs used, but the XZLs I bought from a guy in Locust (Tony at Bull Gear) and they still had the stickers on them.

They look great on a rim anywhere from 7-10 inches wide and they look completely badass on that truck! Totally goes with the old school, skinny tire, look except with the comfort of a radial. What kind of air pressure are you running in them?

I know Tony well. You bought the tires I should have bought but wasn't ready.

I really like the tall skinny. I have them aired to 50lbs. We'll see how they wear. They haul real well at that pressure.

Thanks for the info!

Yep. He's a pretty good guy. I think I've got mine at 45 or 50. It's so awesome to have the load rating too. Mine say 4805 per tire.

Wow wow wow sweet truck! I now have a new rig on my must have list someday. Question on the tires? Where did you get them? Anymore left? I have a set on my 1995 Ford Bronco and would like to score on a second set for future use. Thanks!

Think I seen you at the QT on 601 today. Sharp truck.

Thanks man. I found them on Craigslist, brand new with wheels. I jumped on them.
