Okay so I finally got to a point where I could sit down and upload everything. I'm new here and to the Jeep world. This is my first build and first major modification project so alot is trial and error. I am to the point now where the Jeep is all torn apart and reduced to chassis and axles. I purchased my engine and tranny and trans case from raven mad and have seen the jeep in person at the early stage and that jeep has set the tone for my build. I want to take parts and functions from different year jeeps, i.e. interior, body, etc. I have alot of ideas but need alot of help. haha. Thank you guys very much and I hope you enjoy. PLEASE i repeat PLEASE give your two cents, i am VERY open to suggestion and my jeep is pretty much a blank slate so ideas are great. Also i apologize in advance for all of the questions i will ask in advance.

These are as soon as i got it

Some of the weaker spots in the body, the front shackles have been previously welded because the frame is brittle.

cj 5

Right on man ... Im glad you got your jeep to a place were you can work on it ... I may not be keeping my extra CJ 5 frame, I should make a descition soon, if I dont hold onto it Ill give it to you if you need one... It will need spring hangers, but it doesnt have any rust and its nice and square... Enjoy your build, Ill be looking forward to the progress ...

Hey guys, sorry it's been forever since I've posted anything, I've been so busy. Not much progress has been done on the cj. I have done a little and I will take pictures when I get home. I'm to the point where I have alot of questions and my experience or lack of has put me in a place where I'm not sure what I need to do to progress the build. I've ordered an 87 wrangler power steering box because I had an opportunity to get it for $500 cheaper than a new one. Does anybody know how easy it is to use this in the bell crank to power steering conversion. I have no idea how to or how much the steering system will have to change to convert it.

You have to get rid of all of the bell crank stuff and convert to cross over steering. If your creative there might be a way to use the original steering column and some universal joints. I dont know if its possible as the angle of the column is steep.

I switched to a gm column, and a non power saginaw box.

okay so after some grueling research I narrowed down what year chassis I have, I've come to the conclusion that Its a '78 chassis because its boxed all the way to the back. I've done some research and found that the '65 tub is not easily compatible with the '78 frame, they say its possible but not probable. I really want to continue with the '78 chassis especially since it was the most solid and reliable CJ chassis. I'm not sure that my level of fabrication/knowledge can get that tub on the frame. If anyone has experience or knowledge of how this can be done, I am truly at your mercy. I'm to the point where I have no idea what to do.
