I have a 1979 F-250 that i plan to swap to a crew cab. I know the body style from 73-79 is a bit different from the earlier one.

I was wondering is its possible to use a 72 or earlier crew cab but still a 79 front clip. How different are the body's and would they look regular together?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

No the 72 is what is know as a bump side and the body is different from the 73-79. 73-79 are call dentsides, if you look at the both of thwm youll see why. All front clips from 73-79 are interchangeable.

This, bumpside vs dentside. I'm 99% sure the hood/grille won't interchange either, due to the "dent" flowing into the grille on the dentside, and the taller grille.

Your right I forgot to mention that. Nothing sheet metal wise will interchange.

To Msperlazza: Also that combo won't work either. If I were you I'd just stay with the 73-79 body. Little easier to find parts for except for finding an actual crew cab. Plus I like the look of dentsides better than the bumpsides.

Yea it is just cause i only need a cab, thats a good deal on a whole truck. That seems to be my problem i can find any trucks that are just parts trucks, most are whole running trucks. I don't need a title or anything other then the cab, if you find any please let me know.

Thanks, Mike

Thats depressing. I would consider a drive to Jersey for the right price (and by right price i mean CHEAP thats about 10 hours). If you got any more info on that guy you can PM it too me, Thanks! I can't believe those 2 are being scrapped, and i can't find one to buy! Haha sad me....

do you need a 79 crewcab 4wd frame ? i sold one to my buddy doc . he is a member here. i also gave away the driveshafts to another member here. lol we also sold a 79 f350 "supercab" 4wd to another member here.

I got the supercab.:huggy:

Thanks Doc! And Mike! It has become a nice addition to my new landscaping business... Can't wait to post some pics. It's starting to become something!

Crews are hard to come by. I can kick my ass for not scooping up at least 2 in my day that went to scrap...

Good luck!!!

Nice, yea if I'm not able to find a crew i will go with a supercab, they look pretty awesome as well. I have just always wanted a crew so ill keep looking for a while.
