i am looking at my friends 80's FJ land cruiser. not exact on the year. i know so far it has the inline 6, 4 speed manual, solid axles front and rear.

what i dont know is the t case?

since i'm good friends with him i am looking to get a deal. right now it doesnt run but thats because he pulled some parts off to transfer to his other fj. i know th carb is either gone or messed up. and i think it is missing an alternator.

so question is, for (those toyota gurus) am i looking at a good rig so i dont have to do many upgrades. i know zero about toyotas.

so school me on the specs of a 80's FJ60

Shouldn't it be fuel injected?

Not necessarily. FJ60's ( 2F 4.2L engine) were still carb if I remember right, the FJ 62s ( 4 rectangular headlights ) were EFI ( 3FE 4.0L )

All of the drive train parts are interchangeable from a FJ 40, FJ 45, FJ 55, FJ 60, FJ 62, and some of the early FJ 70"s. Drivetrain parts are easy and plentyful, The ringgear's are mostly 4.11 and a few 3.70 ringear size is 9 and 1/2 inches, all have drop out third members, (later years) early tcase was 3.38 I think, Engines are TORKY but don't like 65 mph and up. Buirfields are the weak link up front but CV Unlimited offers a Lifetime Warranty! On his Newfields,he's a great guy and a long time friend.
J T Outfitters is your parts connection! Joe & John Turpin can't be beat! Hope this helps a little, I had a 1970 CHEVOTA!
