okay i bought a army truck with dana 60s in it and the diesel was no good so i put in me a 350 new every thing i pumped 5 gallon gas thru the tank before i hooked it up to clean some of the diesel out so it was totally empty

okay put 350 in new carb everything when it starts up and run white smoke comes out think it may be left over fuel left in it. it is not getting hot and is really running well i even left the cap off the radiator to see if any compression would push water out thinking i have bad head gaskets but it has duals and the smoke is coming from both sides any help

In every situation I've been in, white smoke has always been antifreeze. If you don't have back pressure into the cooling system then it still is possible it could be a head gasket or even head problem. Are the heads new and are you positive there are no cracks or fractures? Are you positive it's a white smoke, and perhaps not a blue-ish white smoke? Could also be transmission fluid being sucked back into the intake from a faulty modulator valve. What does the smoke smell like? Is it sort've sweet smelling or does it smell like burnt oil? How long have you run the engine? I would think about 10-20 minutes should be enough to burn off any leftover diesel in the lines. Does the smoke billow out of the exhaust and linger or does it sort've quickly dissipate?
