Ok we have a problem, my sons 1990 Bronco 302, AOD, with SAS, 4:88’s, and 38” tires.

He went to the beach this weekend running 60-65 mph on the interstate, got there with no problems. Coming home the with truck it start shifting funny, it would not shift into 3rd until it hit 3000-3500 rpm it also would not pull its own weight in overdrive climbing small grades on the interstate. He said if he gave it more gas it felt like it was slipping or just not accelerate. I checked the trans. Fluid and it smells fine, has good color, and no metallic in it. The fluid and filter was changed last year.

THIS SOUND LIKE A BAD TORQUE CONVERTER?? Is there anything I can check? Any ideas?

Thanks

check the bushing on the throttle body, it is a little plastic bushing that goes to the throttle pressure cable for the trans.

Morning,

I'm lost, is this in the pan or out side of the trans?

Thanks, John

On the throttle body, front top center on the motor. It'll have two 2" round rubber hoses running into it from the air cleaner, couple of butterfly valves inside. I believe the bushing that Lee is talking about will be on the throttle lever on top of the throttle body.

Ok thanks, I had valve body in my head so that's why I was asking if it was in the trans.
