Found this on Craigslist. IT was owned by a Charlotte cop. A tree fell on it and he lost interest so I picked it up for a song. LALALALALALALALA

A 90 Suburban 1500 4x4 Diesel (but a special one)

Tree fell on it.

Good stuff in that box

Replacement parts

Keeping people off teh rear end for the trip home

Transporting the spare hood

OMG LOW MILAGE

K&N filter - Wait that doesn't look right

OHhhhh I am happy in my pants

All the rest of the parts are in the interior.

I will be retiring the WarBeast and putting this monster to work very soon. I cant wait.


OH and the box.

I'm officially jealous I absolutely love these body style suburban's, and you find one in not bad shape at all low mileage with a diesel. Then it has a banks sidewinder turbo kit on damn some people have all the luck.

Door on. It is dented but it works.

Got the intake reinstalled

Guy stopped by to try and buy it.

Now I have to get two batteries and drain out the 3 year old fuel and pour in fresh.

X2 Doesn't get much better than that hell of a find with the sidewinder already in place does a world of difference for those motors...

That sidewinder was one of the few factory installed units in 90. I would love to find another one for the Blazer.

. Getting them off involved taking both motor mounts loose and lifting the engine up because the turbo is in the way. After sacrificing most of the skin on my left had to the frame I managed to get them off.

I also found that both motor mounts are bad. The heater core is bypassed. And the block heater is no where to be seen. I know where the wiring for it is, but nothing on the wires. Minor stuff but irritating. Oh yeah the hose from teh breather to the turbo is cracked. Wonder if I can find another one of those?

block heater is usually in place of a freeze plug, middle plug on drivers side if I remember right. they did have a tendency to corrode and leak, could have just been pulled and replaced with a freeze plug.

Hummm I did see one of the aftermarket rubber plugs with the bolt thru the middle of it. That could be the answer.

So long as you've got 6-7 good glow plugs, it should start right up w/o the block heater.

Yeah it will just take longer. A block heater for it isn't very expensive. Since it seems that we aren't having a winter this year it is kind of a moot point anyhow.
