Right now I have one obstacle to overcome, could anyone offer any input to shackle angle? I've researched it here, pirate, s10extremists, and on the internet. My question is I have no engine in the truck right now, what would be the best angle to install the shackle at currently, so that is lays back properly. I have a pretty good idea of what I need to do, I was just looking for additional information, thanks.

Thats goona be cool! :huggy:

As far as the shackle goes, is this gonna be SOA or SUA? Looks like its gonna be Spring Under Axle?

That's not gonna work as well if your going SOA. If possible, I would locate the axle and put some weight on the springs. I've always been told 3-7 degrees but I've seen alot steeper angles work just fine. Either way I would try and move that mount forward some.

3-7 if it will see any street driving. You can do more if you want more travel out of it. I'd just tack it good till you get the weight back in there. Thats the only way to get it right. then you will probably have to re-adjust it again after the springs brake in some what.

I just finished mine. When I built my crossmember I asked myself the same ?. I mounted mine straight up n down and it turned out pefect as far as droop is concerned, wich is what I was shootin for. I'll have about 4" of up travel. Oh and my drivetrain was out also. Are you ever gonna pull that 700r out ?

was that after you put the engine in? and what engine do you go back with the 4.3 or 5.7? I should have that trans out as soon as I get this shackle system mounted.

Update

Got the front axle almost completely in and the rear axle out, 14 bolt needs to be cleaned up before I weld on the new perches.

Also I just got my parts to finish rebuilding the outer sections of the front axle (bearings and seals) and got crossover steering from ECGS
