ok so its my mom in laws 97 Grand Cherokee(WJ?) and we took it to a trans shop(highly recomended) and we have had to take it back twice now, bc the check engine light comes on and trans slipping. so the trans solenoid has gone out both times and been replaced with new parts (under warranty).

- has anyone had this problem before?
-is there something causing this?
-will it continue to do this after warranty is dead?
any insight is appreciated thanks in advance:beer:

yes it happens all the time, trans isnt slipping its doing 2nd and 3rd gear starts. put delaer soleniods in it it think they are updates and they stock a bunch of them b/c its so common. i have installed at least 10 sets with no comebacks.

the problem is they probably just replaced one at a time. if you get gov.pressure sensor or gov. pressure solenoid codes they should always be replaced as a pair. in 97 there is only 1 style, if it were 93-96 they need to be updated to the 97-2000 style, 2000 up is a different style all together.

to get back to your original question, yes it is common to have them go bad after a rebuild,(i always replace both with an overhaul)

thanks to both and we will see how it goes
