what do you guys do w/ them? they hang low and drag everything. Mine is rotting from the inside out, and since I have a VERY nice rebuild coming together I dont want to feed it rusty fuel. I dont really want to run a fuel cell. I want something that will Go inder my truck. I have read about using 90 model ford f-150 gas tank, anyone ever played with that idea?

Do you have a body lift ? Do you have any intentions of doing one ?
I built a Runner for a friend of mine, 2" body lift, raised the engine 2" with spacers at the motor mounts ( and modified the motor mounts to NOT come apart in the process )
Then had BudBuilt make us a new T-case cross member with a 2" rise and added a double T-case mount as part of the crossmember ( the newer X-members are slightly different in design )
Doing this puts the T-case output about 1/2" away from the Horse Collar cross member that is part of the stock frame.
We cut this out flush with the frame, plated where it was and raised it
You'll find that the front of the gas tank mounts to this as well. so, the rear mount, I cut straight thru the middle and raised it 2" as well. ( over lapping the 2 parts, they nest nicely and welded it together.) The tank ended up 3" higher
end result, the stock gas tank is still used, all mounts are still there, the filler neck is not an issue. the best part, the tank is flush with the bottom of the frame with the factory skid plate intact.

None of this is ground breaking, it's been done time and again. did this 8years ago, and the truck is still in one piece ( for the most part )
Never did get to do my truck.

I have the same thing done to my runner. 2" BL, 2" drivetrain lift, and lifted the tank 2" the same way.

Daylon dosent have any body lift and dosent plan on it to my knowledge.
