I've been noticing my t4r riding a little rough at times for a couple months, but just enough here and there to chalk it up to the tires (cooper at3). This morning it was much worse, but only when I wasn't on the throttle; and felt almost like I was running over the rumble strips on the side of the highway. Seems to be worst when coasting at 40-60 mph, but then I noticed it a bit when on the brakes at 10-25 mph.
Tires look good, lugnuts are tight, hubs not locked, open diff, 22re, w56, IFS...I'm figuring brakes, any other ideas what the problem could be? Thanks

Vibration feels like it's coming from rear of vehicle, and I can feel it in the pedals and gearshift as well...seems pertinent.

My 94 Toyota pickup had a bad shake (pretty similar to what you describe, but noticeably under the front end) . It had 200k on stock shocks front and rear. It wore the outside of the tires in a wave pattern. I bought some cheap use tires and new front and rear shocks and haven't had a problem since. Beyond that, I would jack up each wheel and check for play in your wheel bearings. If everything is nice and slop free, I'd drain you're gear oil from the diff and pull your third for inspection. I could be leading you on a wild goose chase, but that's where I would start. Good luck

Not a wild goose chase at all; kinda what I expected, but I was hoping for the easy diagnosis. I am missing a wheel weight, but I don't think that's going to shake my dentures out with 31x10.50s... tires do appear to be wearing evenly though. I saw some fluid leaking onto drive shaft from xfer case, but I'm at work so I can't check much of anything. I appreciate the help.

I would check rear driveshaft ujoints.

also check for straightness, my '85 had a pretty decent vibe from a dented driveshaft tube

of course after having that shaft redone i managed to spin a dent into it on a ledge somewhere in Northern Va. the long ride home sucked, shifter would slap my leg anything over 50mph

carried a spare after that

As mentioned start with checking the wheel bearings and check any play by turning forward and backward. Update us what you found out.

After driving in this morning, I've determined that it almost certainly has to be hub bearings. Haven't had a chance to check them yet, going to jack it up in the am.

Found the problem, the bolts that hold the driveshaft to the flange from the back of the xfer case were loose. There is some play in the output shaft from the xfer case as well, so I'm guessing I've got a bearing going bad. For now, she's right as the rain. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.
