Is one better that the other when used for tie rod and drag link applications. I have seen one ton tres range from 21-80 bucks and didn't know if some of the new chromo heims would hold up better in the long run. Heims would be easier for me because I wouldn't have to pay someone to tap the rods. I can weld the inserts in myself.

Jeff,
You have seen my Jeep. One tons and 44's, and Hydro assist.
I have been running the cheapo Hiems I got from Olivers for about 4-5 years. Have not broke one, but do carry spares.
The advantage I see running TRE's is that if you are out of town and break one, you can get one at about any parts store.
The way I am thinking though, if you use TRE's or Hiems, either one would still thread into your drag link or tie rod, so there isn't much difference there except the length of your link if you are making them.

Thanks Chip

I used 1ton tie rod ends for drag link and heims for tie rod because the drag link will be working thru more of an angle when suspension twists.
