2.4 lt spark plug came out with a suprise

Rear spark plug came out with this beautiful thing. Don't know what to call it cause it ain't a helacoil... Anyone know if its factory or had head work?

never seen that before!! pretty sure it is a variation of a heli-coil the hole probly stripped and they tapped the hole to the next size and used that i would probly just take it off and put it on the new plug and ride on

just a different method of repairing threads on a hole, appears to be what is called a a " Timesert" repair insert.

could have been on the vehicle, could have been off and in a shop. GM approved repair proceedure.

the problem is whoever did the repair didn't use a long enough insert, the carbon build up on the exposed threads of the plug below the insert is what caused it to come out.

yea looks like a thread repair. we did them all the time on push mowers. napa should have what you need in stock to do the repair
