jeez, let me know. the modern evap system looks for changes in the air/fuel ratio to monitor the system. some systems also have a pressure sensor to look for leaks. what year is the wrangler?
The evap system is used to check for leaks in the fuel storage system. (Tank, charcoal canister etc.) Why the hell did you throw it away? It helps you get better gas mileage by storing vapors from sloshing/heated fuel and then introducing them into the engine at cruise rpms through the purge valve. As for keeping the check engine light off, bulb removal is about your only option. The engine controller is what does the checking on the evap system and it's a calculated function. (I.e. there is no way to just "put a resistor etc." in line to make it think there are no leaks.
