What yall think of 2.5 ton rockwells under a Toyota? Plan on doing some hard core offroading/mudding plus use it as a dd. Also if anyone knows someone with these axles for sale let me know

You know, stock Hi Lux with Rock's and 54's should make a great DD and trail/ mud pit slayer.

This has to be a joke... But I'll play. To run it as a dd or on the road at all do the f700 front rotors and f550 calipers I guess a pinion break rear would be ok if you tuned it out with a prop valve some to avoid the massive heat created. Orversons lockout hubs. You will probably need to learn to drive full hydro on the street. Then deal with Rockwell's being not that strong and super heavy and toyotas being super light and not having much power.

Nope nevermind this is just a bad idea

Unless you just like the looks of having rocks under there, go with tons!

I agree with the folks above... rockwells do not tend to like high speed or highway driving.

If you really wanted to have a street driven rockwell truck, check out the sticky in this section. You will need to run wheel brakes on all corners, and a good suspension setup. These things can have a ton of axle wrap and weigh a good bit.

You will also need hydro assist at a minimum. The f700 brake setup is a good one but likely overkill and heavy for this rig. There are a number of lighter wheel brake setups for rockwells, but nothing really bolt-on and cheap unless you plan to run stock drums.

Check out the Sticky here and the rockwell threads on Pirate. They have a ton of info.
