2.5L TJ clutch installation questions

Trans jack and a clutch alignment tool and a second set of hands.

You could also use a couple of ratchet spraps attached to the framerails to make a cradle under your tranny/t-case if you don't have a tranny jack. Just remove the shifter, hoses, bolts, and slide back. Don't even have to drop it. Oh, and don't forget to remove the driveshafts. I've done the ratchet strap thing a few times. Works great.

since your laying on your back id suggest pulling the t-case then you will be able to handle the trans by hand. it's a simple job that should take less than 2 hrs. working time. oh and dont be a cheap bastard HAVE YOUR FLYWHEEL RESURFACED!!!!!!!!!!!!

While this would be correct for most vehicles, you do NOT want to resurface your flywheel on your TJ. Directly from the FSM:

"Flywheel machining is not recommended. The flywheel clutch surface is machined to a unique contour and machining will negate this feature. Minor flywheel scoring can be cleaned up by hand with 180 grit emery or with surface grinding equipment. Remove only enough material to reduce scoring (approximately 0.001 - 0.003 in.) Replace the flywheel if scoring is severe or deeper than 0.003 in."
