Got a few questions for those with lifts...

  • What brand and model?
  • Cost (and how long ago was it)
  • what kind of prep was required?
Gonna be buying in about a month.. :huggy:

bend pak for what you need $2500, Where- Eagle equipment in greensboro but you will have to pay sales tax. American lifts out of texas has best prices plus free shipping. Tell Eagle to match there price and spend your money in NC, but i warn you they are very dumb. the salesman kept teling me a new price but i kept telling him the price i would buy it for and he was like okay how about XXX. Finaly called him a moron and that if he wanted to sell it this was the price. you need 4-6 inches of concrete, can't remeber which. if you have hieght limitations you may have to go with a mohawk really nice lifts but pricey. Bend pak are made in america and come with a 2year warranty at least, parts are easily attainable, the problem w/ the cheap chineese lifts is they are hard to get parts for. If i were you i would get bendpak 10xp the assymetrical style and get it as wide as it comes may have to pay an extra $100 for width. As for install i put up 2 so i could be of assitance, first one went slow, second one went way faster.

1. Gilbarco...not made anymore got 5 of them
2. $2000 in 1990
3. thicker concrete to anchor them in.

Still use all 5, only had to repair on cylinder...will be replacing all of them in the next couple of years.

The lift is going in the new place in PA, but if you want to come up & help, you're more than welcome! :)

Thanks for the brand recommendation.. Seems like a good deal for something american made.

Check Mohawk lifts. They are out of NY (near where I'm from) they always have used units for cheep and the local price isn't always too bad...

I bought a Atlas from Greg Smith Equipment. Best quality and warranty from all I compared. Heavy duty and performs awsome! asymetrical/symetrical arms are sweet as well as the extra height and weight capacity. Would highly recommend for the money. took me and a buddy an afternoon to install. 4" concrete min.

Got a 10Klb whatever brand Napa sells. I'll have to double check...I got it from Napa due to a good 'financing option'...around $2300.00 if I remember right...I'm sure you could get a better deal elsewhere...

I like the assymetrical arms. Frees up floor space in tighter areas. Seems like trucks and jeeps look more stable on assymetrical lifts...Although I'm sure either would handle any just fine...
Installation is easy if you have a buddy to help you stand up the posts.
If ceiling is low consider a two post withough a cross beam up top. That extra 6" of lift could be nice in some cases.
And as said...4" of concrete...
