Well, out with the old and in with the new. With the help of a good friend i swapped out the blown 4.0 with a (new to me) 4.0 with 75k on it. Everything went fairly smooth. It runs great going down the road but when you stop at a light that's when things get odd.

The idle won't stay still. It never gets above 8-900 but it'll dive below 500 and almost kill itself. Then it'll kick back up and the process starts back again. Sometimes it will kill itself and I have to crank it back up. I've gotten a P1391 error code as well. Here is what I've done so far.

1) Swapped out camshaft sensor
2) Tightened bolt on CPS (a few months before the old engine died, I installed a new one)
3) Swapped out coil packs
4) Swapped out throttle body (which essentially swaps out 3 more sensors)
5) Flashed the memory on the computer (when I did this it ran great for about 2 minutes steady and then started stumbling again and died)

So, what do you think this could be?

Nick, sorry I missed ya this weekend, but I was racing. Anyway, I bet your sync is off. The cam sensor/oil pump drive must be "timed" within 2*. Ifyou can swing by Skyland, I'll sync it for ya. It is very, very sensitive and will cause a multitude of idle issues if it is off.
You have my number, holler if ya need my help.

No sweat. I knew you were and I'm glad to see you guys did well. I just figured you were busy and I would throw it out to see if anyone else would know. I'm not driving it today but I'll give you a call and see when we can meet up. thanks.
