2000 XJ DD, 170k getting death wobble from 50-55mph. It dosnt seem to do it much otherwise. Been underneath it to see if anything is loose, didnt find anything yet. Going to jack the front end up and give the front axle a good shake on jackstands next. Its a completely stock vehicle. Any direction would be much appreciated guys.

Stock 2000 Cherokee, 4.0, auto. Stock suspension, its also wearing the outside of the passenger tire slightly faster then the inside. Driver side wear is even. Assuming the problem lies on passenger side.

Check all tie rod ends, sway bar end links and bushings for play, ball joints for play. Most common is the panhard bar that runs from the drivers side frame to the passenger side of the axle. Have an assistant lightly rock the steering wheel back and forth while on the ground engine running, look for any movement in the joint (drivers side) and the bushing( passenger side). Last if all those parts check out rotate the tires and see if it goes away if it does you have some bad tires.

What you're describing isn't death wobble.

I don't know anything about XJs, but on TJs and Jks, the first thing I'd check for genuine death wobble is the track bar. Is it tight? Is the bushing worn?
