Figured ide start build thread since ill be making some headway now

Starting with a 2000 xj sport that i got for free after the motor got a bad knock and the previous shop to work on it paid the blue book value to the owner. Building it to be a driver, mild wheeler, and huntin rig. Right now its a bone stock peach

120k
I rebuilt the trans 5k miles before i got it
Motor is coming back from the machine shop saturday

So far
Cleaned up the interior since po kids liked to spill alot of sticky stuff
New heater core, evaporator, and blower motor
Pretty much a new motor other than the head casting, block casting, and crank core
Had to sleeve one cylinder, and went with ls valves and a 0630 head.
Jk wheels

Still left
Iro 3 link long arm 4"
Locked 8.8 with 4.10s
Bumpers
Possibly frame stiffeners

Looks like a sweet ride once you clean it up and get her going. I would take the word “possibly” away from frame stiffeners. They are awesome and SO worth the time for the little $$ they cost. They change all the handling characteristics on & off road and if your going to dual use this vehicle make it stronger to last longer!!

I wasnt sure if they were worth it but i guess ill add it to the list

I would look into the ironman4x4fab steering brace too if you plan on driving on the street. It really tightens up the steering box area. He also has a sweet 4 link kit. Love that color.

For sure going with a steering box brace and thiers looks like a nice piece. That 4 link is nice as well but it looks to be a little more than i need

Finally got the motor back in the flood and a shop with no power but i did get new battery cables and injector plugs over the weekend

Not real sure, havent messed with jeeps much before this. Ide gues 285s or so

That's what I had planned for my new to me budget xj , but decided on some Rubicon take offs cause they are skinnier and easier to fit with the stock flares....

does this cam timing look correct? #1 at tdc and the dots aligned on center line but the other picture is way out in left field

X2 on the Iron Man Fab steering box brace. Best $250 I’ve spent! Next to rock sliders, it may be the single best upgrade I’ve done to my XJ!! Super easy to install and it was a game changer for the steering.
If you ever kill the motor or loose power steering and need to steer it, it will still keep everything together.
