So I bought a 2000 xj off a guy who said his son had overheated it driving home from collage and blown the head gasket. I replaced the valve cover gasket which was blown but I havent done the head yet. I changed the oil and the spark plugs and it ran much better, but some of the plugs had oil gunk on them when i took them out. After i ran it there was fresh oil in the air box and a decent amount in the intake manifold too. Any ideas what the problem could be? I am going to check the pcv valves when i get back to it but it only ran for about 10 minutes before dying and it seems like alot of oil for such a short time. Thanks

burnt the rings on the pistons. Excessive blowby is a sure sign..
