2000ish Dodge Ram?

unless going diesel i would steer clear of the goats gas trucks. for the year i would get a 99-02 ish silverado or sierria fullsize truck. the 5.3's are just damn good motors.

im still in love with my dodge. wish it wasnt totalled. the only problem i ran into was the dash cracking. fairly common, if you dont keep sun control stuff on the dash plastic.

love the cummins diesels hate the shell they wrap them in

I loved my dodge, especially with the long arm lift on it, however, the piece of crap trans caused my to get rid of the truck. 4 transmissions in 6 months really pisses you off! oh, it was a 2000 w/360 , 5" lift and 35's

I've had mine for about a month now and I'm in love. I've got an 01.5 2500 extended cab short bed 4wd with the CTD. I've towed a trailer at ~5000lbs and it was really easy to forget it was behind me.

Mine also has the cracked dash and the torn drivers seat, but every single one of the 10 or so I've looked at had those issues.

I have owned a 98 regular cab, 98 quad cab and a 2001 quad cab currently in a 2007 Ram loved every one the only thing I warn is if they have more then 80,000 miles on them take care of the transmission other than that the were best riding 4x4 I have ever riden in. Gas milage is lower than some chevys and fords but the ride and power is well worth it.

I've got a '99 Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4x4 that I've own since November 1998. Other than a cracked dash I've got nothing to complain about. Its got the 5.2 liter engine and an auto transmission with 158,500 miles on the clock. I've changed the oil every 3000 miles and the ATF every 30K. I'd like to get a 2500 series diesel to tow my Jeep and if/when I do I'll still have the 1500 for running around and driving to work. I love that truck.

i have a 2001 ram 1500 quad cab. it is an alright truck. my dash is gone. had one little crack in it when i bought it 4 years ago, now it is about gone. bought my truck with 39,000 miles on it and now it has 91,000 on it. i have always ran mobil 1 in it since i bought it. no problems other than the dash and plastic parts. not the best in the gas mileage department though, like others posted. by the way, i have the 5.2. mine will probably be for sale after christmas after i replace the dash and bezel.

I traded my LandCruiser for my 96 Dodge 1500 with the 360 (5.9L) v8, auto, 4x4 with 170k miles on it.

LOVE the truck, rides great and tows my 85 yota just fine!!

TERRIBLE gas mileage, much of this is due to the exhaust that sounds SO GOOD that my right foot just keeps on the throttle so I can hear it!

This is NOT a DD for me though... but the #1 deal is trannys and Pavementsucks.com has a pretty good Dodge forum on there.

I personally wish I had the cummins 2500 or 3500 series so I "knew" this rig would last me 'forever' but since I am putting on 5k or less on it...even the gasser is pretty reliable.

My only long term concern...when I go to Moab in a few years is the truck really reliable to tow round trip 4000 miles? I suspect I will trade before that trip(s) but east coast...this is my tow rig.

Oh..yes, dash cracked, I never notice it...and paint chipped off in several places in large patches on the hood and roof. Will eventually repaint both to cure that.

Well I used to own a 1998 Dodge Dakota R/T with the 5.9 and auto trans. I knew that once the drivetrain got up there close to 100k in mileage that there'd be issues. I'm looking for a truck that'll be a good daily driver 4x4. I'd love a new Tacoma, but doubt my wallet could support one.

I've got the same truck with about 194k miles. It has the NV4500. I have had it two years, and the only thing I have replaced is the fuel lift pump. My dash is also cracked, but the seat is fine. It is all stock.

My dad has an 01 1500. At first he kept having transmission problems, but Dodge finally got their act together and its been great ever since. Hes towed his RamCharger with it and our farm tractor with no issues. Gas mileage is around 12-13mpg, which sucks to some, but compared to my tow rig its not that bad. No issues with the dash cracking or paint like some others have experienced.
