Ive got a 2002 bass tracker pro crappie 175 with a merucury elpt 40 hp motor erial number (OT489469). Ive had the boat for a few weeks, the first few times ive took it out its run fine but it was taken out on a small lake. Thenme and a friend took it to belews lake where we could run it out and after about 15-20 mins. of running it at 3/4 to full throttle it cut off. After pumping the primer bulb till it was tight it cranked right back it did this 3 to 4 times. After we got the boat home i changed the fuel line from the tank to the motor and put a new bulb on it also changed the plugs and cleaned the fuel filter and put a can of sea foam in it. After all that it run fine for a day or 2 and then it went back to not wanting to run at an idle unless you choked it to keep it running or have it at half throttle I found varnish in the old fuel lines and in the filter the first time but none this go round. can anyone help me with this issue or point me in the direction i need to be?

Is the fuel pump pumping?

Honestly sounds like it's got trash in the carbs. Ususally happens when they sit for a while, happens a lot faster now with the E10 crappy excuse for gasoline that we're getting.

This may sound stupid, but is your tank vent open? My buddy has a similar problem when the vent on the tank rattles itself closed and starts creating a vacuum in the tank. When it stumbles he can pump the primer bulb real fast and it will come back to life.

Edit: It actually sounds exactly the same as the issues you are having. we ziptied the went open so it wouldn't spin closed and fixed the problem........
