2003 dodge 2500 brake controller wiring

I bought this truck new and it didn’t have the tow package so I had the dealer add them before I got it. The brake controller comes on but it doesn’t see the trailer. It has a harness thats plugged in, so I’m wondering if the bundle of wires at the hitch needs to be connected somewhere. Thanks

I am going to take a stab that you have to string that all the way to the battery. I see a green ground wire with a ring terminal on it and a fuse holder on that red wire. I am betting the red wire has a terminal on it as well and needs to get connected at the battery. It is so long ago that I cannot remember what I had to do on my 2006 when I got it new but I definitely had to add a brake controller. I feel like on that one all I did was splice a patch harness (that was bagged in the glove box) to the controller and plug it in under the dash but there could have been an extra step.

Just cut the zip ties loose and see what you have. If you own a multimeter you can check the wiring from the plug to see if it connects to that harness.

Thanks, I pulled the wires out and I have a red one with a ring terminal that I will run to the battery and the black one I will ground to the frame near the hitch. I’m not sure what to do with the blue one, any thoughts? I checked and it goes to the plug terminal labeled electric brakes. I installed the brake controller and I purchased a plug and play harness that should have been all I needed to do, but the dealer didn't connect the wires for the electric brakes. I guess the easiest thing to do is cut into the harness at the controller and splice the blue wire to it, but there should be a location to add the blue wire to the factory wiring.

I found the factory wiring diagram I believe the light blue wire is for the controller. Maybe the electric brake provision has some information but I only have this page of the manual.

Blue wire on the trailer plug connects to the blue wire on brake controller in the cab.
