2003 Tundra spacers questions.....

OK....I'm likely gonna go with the Bilstein 5100's on the front of my 2003 Tundra TRD 4x4. I have a few questions:

1. Which setting to level it?
2. Do I need spacers to run 285/75's on it? Wheels are 16".
3. Which size spacers.....and where's the best place to get them?

ONLY place I know of where I might can get the spacers done is Tom's in Lexington. I simply don't know of another avenue.....though I'm sure they exist.

Thanks.

straight from the link i gave you

1. Use 1.5" wheel spacers (From almost any of our fine vendors here on nc4x4) to space your factory front wheels out. You can then clear 285 tires (I am running 285/75-16's on factory wheels with the 1.5" Marlin Crawler spacers.

2. Put hose clamps on the inner CV boots - this will stop the grease from spitting.
I have my Bilsteins set at the top-most groove, but frankly it lifted the front too high and rides a bit rough. I'm planning to drop it down to the 4th notch next time I have time to take the truck back to the shop.

By the way - make sure you use a GOOD shop for the wheel alignment and tire balance. I have been having problems with wheel balance and alignment because I used a shop with a less-than-stellar mechanic. Unfortunately, the guy I really trust doesn't work on Toyota Trucks (he's a VW/Audi/Porsche guy)

Here's what it looks like with the 285's:

That's EXACTLY the look I'm after.

Tell me where I stray with pricing.....(all prices +/-):

1. Wheel spacers (4) $150
2. Blistein 5100's (2) $180

WHat can I expect to pay for a "good" 285 sized tire.....black wall (incl. install)?

Also....how much for installing the other components? What other procedures would you suggest (front end align.? other?)?

Would the leveling kit make the 265's look "inferior"?

Thanks, so much.

for prices....call a vendor on here. they'd be glad to help.

tires? depends on what you want it to look like. i'd say 600-1300

as to the other ?s, go back and look at the links i left in the other post......all of em.

we stock all the wheel spacers. if retaining the factory wheels you may want to run hub centric wheel spacer they are a bit more but may save you some balancing aggrevation.

If I read this correctly, I need to install the spacers before I get my new tires. Now...I'm an automotive STOOGE:lol:. Can you tell me the diff. between the "reg" and the "centric" spacers....as I WILL be utilizing the TRD wheels.

Also, cperry....who is "we"....and how much would the centric spacers run? I got a photo sent to me of a like-year tundra running spacers w/out the leveling kit (running 285's)....and I like it. That's likely the route I'll take. One more thing....which size spacers would I need to run the 285's? Thanks!

Here's what his looks like....

A hub-centric wheel is one that the wheel fits the hub (center part that sticks put inside all the lug nuts) exactly, where as a lug centric wheel fits the lug nuts but not really the hub. Your wheels are hub centric on the truck now, so I'd stay with the hub centric design. Check out cperrrys sig. (East Coast Gear Supply) Great guy, knows his :poop:!

Thanks. Are you saying I can use the "reg" spacers, then (with the wheels pictured, above...on the silver TRD)? If so, what size to run 285/75/16's?

Sorry....here's the truck I'm purchasing....

THanks.

You can use the regular spacers (lug centric) but I think the hub centric design is stronger. Are you lifting the truck any? The burgundy one looks to be lifted a bit to fit the tires you are wanting.

Now I'm confused.

I thought I didn't need the hub centric, utilizing my wheels (existing)?

No. Plan, now, is to NOT lift it....if the spacers will allow me to get the look of the green tundra.

Buy a leveling kit and trim your upper a-arms
U can run the tires u want on stock rims and they will only rub at full lock
The rear needs nothing to run 285's
Cost about the same as wheel spacers
Click on my sig and u will find a pic of this setup

Now I'm running 1.5" spacers, 35's on 3.75" BS wheels and glass fenders - I don't think I have any pics of this setup but could take a quick pic if u want.

I suggest a leveling kit that sits on top of the coil pack and u might as well do an add-a-leaf. I got my complete kit cheap on eBay.

About the only way to do this is to buy the wheels and tires you want and put them on. If they rub, buy the wheel spacers. Buy the "hub centric" spacers as it is a stronger design. Also remember that you are pushing the tires further out and the outer edge of the tire MAY hit the fender when steering.
