just bought a 2004 chevy 2500 HD with the 6.0L and auto trans, 83,000 miles. runs great except when cruising at 2500 RPM or above, the check engine light flashes. it doesn't store codes..... only has a code when flashing..... it's P0300 (random misfire) replaced plugs and wires and it still does it. has a coil for each cylinder, so no cap or rotor button to replace..... when it's flashing, i feel no ill effects..... still runs great..... anybody have any ideas???

anybody know of a GOOD mechanic in or near raleigh that has the proper scan tools to diagnose it?? (and not rape me on the price) i don't want someone to just throw parts at it.....(i can do that!!)

thanks!

good deal..... will be a day or 2..... what i can do is carry it straight to u when i get off one afternoon, that way you can look at it the next day. i've been doing a TON of research, and hear a lot of people saying the intake manifold gasket can cause this..... (they are prone to failing.....)

the issue with the intake gskts is that they NORMALLY only leak when cold, but you never know. usually when you have an intake leaking you will get lean codes, not misfires.
like i said, bring it by and we can get it checked out.

would it be possible to drop it off tomorrow afternoon and pick it back up friday afternoon??? i need it to drive to wilmington friday evening..... if you find whats wrong, i can bring it back next week.....

i'm at the harris nuclear power plant in new hill..... (down hwy 1 past apex/cary) a ride is no problem, gettin away from work is..... trying to finish up some work for a concrete pour by the end of the week so all our guys can go home for the weekend.

definitely appreciate the offer tho!!
