My wife has a 2005 Wrangler sport that has been to the dealership twice for a shimmy (ie death wobble) at 55 MPH, both times the dealership has said the alignment was fine and they found no issues, they rotated the tires and the problem goes away for a couple of months, only to return, now it is doing it again less than 5000 miles form the last time and has pretty much destroyed a set of brand new Pro Comp AT's, I am sick of taking it to the dealership and getting no results, do any of you guys have any idea of what could be causing the shimmy ? Also the jeep stalled on I-40 yesterday at 70 MPH, first time that has happened

Dude....there are so many postings on all different sites about this. It could be anything from alignment, loose steering components, balancing of tires, drive shafts...! Mine was a loose track bar....tightened it up and BAM good to go. Like on another thread here...check all the free stuff....I would check all the steering components first..then move down the list.

Thxs for the info, I am about fed up with this TJ

UUUGGHHH it never ends, the wife just told me, that when she was driving home this eveing she could hear a popping sound coming from the left front wheel

Find out who does their line up jobs and then take it to another. Also check it out for yourself. Easy enough to jack it up and check it out.
If it's still under warranty, keep taking it to the Stealership and demand they fix it. Also get a rental while you are there. on their dime of course!

I just got back from the stealership and those rat bastards refused to give me a rental, and told me that I would have to pay for the repairs even though we have the extended warranty on the jeep, they said it wasnt covered, I told them to fix the damn thing and if it comes back again I was going to drive the jeep thru there show room window and park it in thier show room

Ha ha.. please take pics when you do that! Thats how you return a lemon!!

Seroiously on an 05 you shouldnt be having these problems.... unelss your wife has been driving over speed bumps at 30mph or is a really bad driver, but sounds to me like it could be a lemon!

How many miles are one it? I6 cyl? Stock?

it just went over 50k, 6 cyl., my wife babies the jeep as it is still stock

Damn..I want to pull this thing apart and look at it. Although..it would be nice to see a pic of it in the showroom flexed out on someones desk!

How many times have you taken it the shop for this problem? Its seems like if there is a pattern of them fixing the same problem and it hasnt been taken care of they should comp it. I would really consider looking into the NC lemon laws if you are the original owner of the vehicle. You shouldnt be having the death wobble on an 05 stock wrangler unless they keep screwing something up! let me know how it goes? What stealership are you working with?

Definatly take it to a different dealer for a second opinion, a dodge/chrysler dealer will usually do jeep warranty work, i buy all my jeep parts from a dodge dealer!

I see alot of loose track bars on the rubicons. I usually drill the bolt and use a castle nut with a cotter pin to stop it from loosening

This is the third time it has been in for the same issue. The stealership is Stevenson Chrysler/Jeep in Jacksonville NC
