2007 ford 6.4 deisel engine is completly fubarbed

they opted to get a new engine3 from Ford and keep on rockin...19,000 out the door.Glad it wasn't my money
I would have sold em a complete running, driving truck in great condition for less than that!

Upgrade to a Duramax and solve the problem long term!
Doubtful; bought two new 2008 lmm, one made it 45k, then fuel pump and injectors. Second truck blew the motor at 150k...

Those 6.4 reputations were why I want to the 6.7 from the 6.0. Just hearing about replacing the fuel pump on the back of the block for like $5k was enough to scare me away. I'm already notoriously bad with regular servicing. No way I wanted to tempt fate with a bitch of a motor as the 6.4.

You just haven't driven a 6.4 with the right tune :burnout:

150K still outlasted the powerstroke in question!
But still cost me $7500 (over 4k of that was new injectors) to replace with 4 years of payments left...and that's me getting a fire damage bottom end and rebuild...and it was only a 1.5 years old with that mileage. The other truck with pump and injectors, 6 months old, but under warranty.

For the record, i built a ford because they're parts are much cheaper. Even after purchase of truck with no motor (3yrs ago), new top end then, new bottom end this year, I'm still under 22k investment, wth no payments. I'll continue to build my own work trucks as long as I'm able, but from this point on it will only be gas or 12 valve. I'm done with common rails for a while. Gas motor or mechanical diesel, I can pop a junkyard motor in, over a weekend and be back to work on Monday...and way cheaper! But I'm self employed with no employees, bigger companies don't think like I do.

We bash the trucks, but I personally feel the crap fuel and EPA are to blame...diesels used to be the best way for work.

My gas 6.0 Chevy keeps sounding better.
That's where I'm heading for the next work truck build. Ls based (6.0,6.2), 8.1, or 12 valve (not a fan of the noise), Allison trans, ?tcase. Already secured myself a 3+3 square body truck ('90-91 suburban grill), will use '05+ f450 4x4 crew cab chassis (for the great axles/ brakes/ suspension/ turning radius/ 19.5 tires); and build another flat bed similar to the last I built. Will title as Chevrolet.

Something like this but much lower (as much aspossible) ride height...and flat bed obviously.
