Over the weekend my a/c light started flashing and I heard a loud buzzing/roaring sound from under the hood followed by a burning/burnt smell......
My air was blowing cold before this happened.
Anyone else experienced this?
I wouldn't think my compressor would crap out after only 82k miles??

Have you looked under the hood for any telltale signs of things that buzz, roar, or look burnt? Shredded belts, locked compressor clutches, etc?

No broken belts. Mechanic is looking at it. Wouldnt a clutch repair be cheaper than a new compressor

In my experience if a clutch bearing fails it has usually either wiped out the front of the compressor where it rides or the heat takes out the seal meaning it starts leaking freon. It could be the compressor is locked up and it smokes the clutch when you turn it on, I've got a Honda crv in my bay right now with a locked compressor. It throws sparks when you turn the AC on, LOL
