So I have a 6-Speed 2012 JK, and I was wondering if anyone else has/had issues with the throw-out bearing rattling or going bad? I just dropped mine off at a local dealer where they "checked" it :shaking:... and they say they cannot duplicate the concern. But when im sitting in neutral it sounds like a 12-valve cummins idling

This is a very common problem with the six speeds regardless of year, mine did it aat 20,000. I had Mintons Automotive in Granite falls replace mine, and at a very fair price. There are a few ways to go about it, you can put up with it for what seems to be a very long time, hard to find a true failure. I know a few guys that there,s has been rattling for 40,000 miles and still no problems. It will tend to rattle worse at higher temps, especially of you are idling on trail alot. If yours isnt modified to a great extent and you know a mod freindly dealer , get it good and hot idling for a while, have the technician walk out and hear it, show him if you barely touch the clutch pedal and load the bearing it goes away. FWIW David kept mine for me when I had mine replaced, there was nothing I could say failed on the bearing, just rattles.
