A friend has one with a 3.5 liter v6. Water pump is leaking and needs to be replaced.
The damn thing is behind the timing cover and driven by the timing chain. The motor must come out for replacement. What a brilliant feat of engineering!
The pump is only $60. Her shop quoted $1200 to $1500 to replace it.
Does that sound about right for the labor? I don't have a clue.
What say ye NC4x4?
Thanks in advance!

o_O dafuk?

I was interested so I searched how dang hard it'd be.....Whole 3 part series on it. And here I thought replacing the motor mounts for my boys 2000 GTI was a bitch! Man, what a dumb idea

I've done one on a 2013 non turbo Lincoln version of the Taurus (mks?) did not remove the engine. I did the whole job in car, not sure if there was a body style change in there that would make it different. It was a full day job though, both valve covers, the front cover, and the timing chains had to come off obviously.

Not a job I'd want to do on jackstands. No telling if the turbo makes it worse to do either.
