my wifes grand cherokee diesel has a warning system that alarms and even applies the brakes if the jeep get near anything. Very aggrivating for a driver paying attention. Does anyone here know how to turn off this bell and whistle, brake applying crap? Thanks

It probably has a paragraph in the owners manual. My guess is you can’t change it. I’ll trade you a 2000 Grand Cherokee that doesn’t have that problem :D

We get that stuff on rental cars all the time, its spooky feeling. There's usually an option in the vehicle menus under Safety and Security or something similar named.

I just found a 2018 quick reference and it sounds like it can be disabled. Forward Collision Warning is probably what you want to find.

This is for a 2017, but it should be the same.

However, that may also affect the adaptive cruise control, so tell mom not to run into anything when she sets the cruise to 95.
