Cutting to it, older customer I've done work for on his previous vehicles wants me to look at the P0876 code on his '21 Titan with the 9 Speed JR913E Jatco.
Reading online I can see its mildly common(there aren't many of these trucks this new) but most "solutions" have been covered by the dealership warrantying out the valve body/TCM replacement or replacing the whole transmission all together. His truck is out of warranty.
He mentioned that he had a transmission drain and fill service done recently, and I'm wondering if the fluid level is too low. I can't check because there to my knowledge isn't a dipstick. Looking at the transmission drain and fill process in videos online from shops; I'd need a 60-90$ tool kit. I'm recommending he take it back to the place he had the drain and fill to have the fluid level checked.
In the event that the fluid level is in spec, does anyone have any input or experience in testing the valve body/TCM. I have a decent scan tool Xtool D8W but i'm still getting a handle on the functions. The sensor in question "IF" its faulty could stare me in the face and I wouldn't know what it looks like. I've done some searching online but haven't turned up anything, I assume its integrated into the Valve body/TCM.
I'm aware that Nissan has axed further Titian production, looking online i can see some have the valve body listed for 600-800 new, or back-ordered.
I don't want to throw parts at it, much less get involved with it any further after doing a "simple" spark plug set replacement. He wants to get out of it within the next year, Thoughts?
